Bio:

Lucy taught her first classes, when she was in her late teens, for college students whilst dancing as a hobby at the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden. However, she rejected a career in fitness, in favour of an artistic career and went on to become an animator and graphic designer for TV.  It was only later in life that she finally came back to dance and fitness, qualified as a teacher and then as a Personal Trainer. She now runs her own successful business the Body Fitness Company and has joined forces with ThinQ Fitness to become their Fitness Director and one of their fitness presenters.

Lucy is passionate about dance and fitness and believes strongly that it should be accessible to everyone.

Join Lucy in the blog to find out a bit about her eating habits as a busy working mum.

Lucy’s Tips:

  • Don’t spend hours in the gym working half-heartedly; work for shorter periods but at a higher intensity.
  • Every morning do 25 press-ups, 50 curls, 50 reverse curls and 60 oblique twists, whatever else happens that day, you will know you have done your abs!!!
  • Avoid all white flour foods.

Description

Lucy continues with session 4 of the extremely popular Introduction to Fitness online workout video. Week 4 sees us continue to extend the duration of exercise from 38 mins in session 3, all the way up to 50 mins session 4.

This still ideally needs to be done five times a week allowing for stamina to really begin to increase and absorption of information to take place. In this session Lucy uses the combinations developed in session three and progresses them a little bit.

She also demonstrates a range of simple exercises using hand weights and talks about the general reasons these may be taught and combined into sessions, so that you begin to feel comfortable with different exercise strategies. In the session we progress from a 1/2 box press-up to a full box press up.

Equipment:

Water, towel and light weights.

Hi Lucy, I'm from Italy, so forgive my bad English,please...I started with your introduction to fitness after a long time I was not having exercise at all, and I'm so happy, It's my second day of lesson 4 and I feel better every day, although I am so tired at the end of the class :). I also like your humour, it makes me smile and not thinking that I'm panting a lot... A special "thank you" from my three cats that have a lot of fun watching me while I practice and joining sometimes the exercises :) And thanks from me too, I'm sure I'll go on with the lessons and feel always better, not only with my body but also with my spirit. Bye, Camelia

Hi lucy I just thought I let u know that the L shape touch step ended up with me banging my head on the draw…and the whosh ended up with me tripping on my trainers which by the way do not have laces and landing in a big pile on the floor!! Oh and to top it off my husband was watching me and found it ever so amusing!!! BUT i made it to the end!

Hi Suzy, Thank you for you comment and I am so happy you are getting on so well, a big, big well done to you!!! It is important you fit it into your routine and at this stage to split it into two parts, if this meets your needs is fine, and we get to hang out twice in one day which I like. I think towards say day 7 or 8 of doing this you will feel stronger and then WANT to do it all in one go. There is another type of satisfaction that comes from realising your stamina has built up. I suggest you attempt to do the whole thing through a few times before going on to the next level. Let me know how you get on!! Lucy Case Fitness Director

Hi Lucy, I'm so happy of what I'm doing...thank you so much.As you suggested me I skip intro1 (was too easy), made twice intro 2, than intro 3 a couple of days and today I have tried intro 4 and now I really feel I'm working out! Just a question: can I divide the session in two, and do the "aerobic" in the morning and the floor exercise in the evening? (I don't have so much time in the morning, but I'm sure I'll not have the strength in the evening for the aerobic. Anyway you are great, it's very challenging and satisfying work out every day. thank you very much! Susy

Hi Jayne, great to see you!!! We love seeing our members.I am so pleased this is working for you. It is a gradual process to learn the moves, to become a little bit fitter and then to feel strong and confident enough to do and try different classes. This is a unique concept which we are proud of simply because it is actually working and helping others to achieve achievable goals and understand a bit about how their bodies work. Well done and keep writing in!! Lucy Case Fitness Director

Hi Colleen and thank you so much for your feed back. Well done to you so far. We have allot of progression classes available to you once you have completed the series. This will enable you to just settle into classes which are truely beginner level and also try out a few different styles. Another option which is fab of course is our Teen Range, which our beginners also love because they are of a shorter duration and again, act as a kind of transition whilst your stamina builds up. Let me know what else you enjoy or would like to see once you`ve settled in a bit, meanwhile, keep in touch!!! Lucy

Hi Lucy, hope you are well! That was my 1st session of Intro Fit 4. As always,I didn't feel like working out so I had to give myself a gentle reminder of what it is I want to achieve and what my goals are which is to shape up. I really had fun doing this today. The progression is not too hard as you make it managable. I'm doing the Intro Fit sessions in the schedule it is set out at and I would only be cheating myself and getting nowhere if I wasn't following it properly. So there is a message in that to all those just starting out and doing the sessions!! I just want to let you know that when I take doggy out for his walk there is a definate bounce in my step and when I'm walking up my flight of stairs I have caught myself skipping up them!! I feel more relaxed esp after I have done the workout with you. I really, really enjoyed this session and I'm getting better at doing the moves. I know I say it at every post but I am so pleased you have devised this workout Introduction-I don't know about anyone else but I am very happy with it,so thank you!! Have a great rest of the day/eve and I shall 'see' you tomorrow!! Thanks again, Caroline.
