Bio:

Gemma is an up and coming Presenter who loves Salsa and Latino based dancing to exercise. She is the first to admit she never used to be into fitness. She did not particularly enjoy sports at school and used to chat too much during netball practice to be selected for the team!! However, one fine day she discovered salsa dancing and what started as a fun hobby soon developed into a career choice. From here she trained as an Exercise to Music teacher to enable her to teach salsa. She loved the training so much that she went onto do a multitude of different fitness related courses making her overall fitness knowledge extremely high.

She has since gone on to work for FitPro a company dedicated to providing courses for teachers. Gemma is proud of the fact her story has come full circle and that she is now in the position to help others choose this career path ways.

We know you will love Gemmas’ clear and fun teaching style and her girly moves and feminine form of fitness.

What drives Gemma?

“Everyone wants to enjoy life and what can be more fulfilling than striving to be the best that you can be?! Happiness Tip: Have no regrets. Think of any mistakes as something to learn from so that you will be better next time”.

Why fitness is important to Gemma?

The main reason why fitness is important to me (apart from the obvious one of being healthy), is that doing exercise boosts levels of endorphins and keeps you happy! Being fit has a proper feel good factor.

Gemma’s Tips:

  • My favourite (which was from my first salsa teacher!) – Fake it and keep smiling!
  • Don’t force yourself to exercise – do something you love.
  • Girls – don’t underestimate the power of free weights.

Classes available: Herts. U.K.

Specialist Areas: Salsa, Latino and general exercise and conditioning classes

Proudest Moment: Working for Fit-Pro and presenting at Fit-Pro Convention Spring 2009

This was brilliant! I thought I was the only one to kill my participants with millions of reps (referring to the crunches). THe instructions are clear and concise and the exercises flow through nicely. Great to hear you explain which part of the abs the exercises are working. You might want to choose more upbeat music as the intensity requires some more "encouraging" music. I found that works quite well for my classes at least. Keep up the good work!

Hi Sharon, thank you for writing in. Squeezing your towel keeps your knees together as frequently without the towel the knees can spay apart. Without the towel, bringing the legs over is an exercise Dom uses as a back mobility exercise for the spine. As an added extra the squeesing action activates the inner thigh muscles so hopefully you felt that too? Take care Gemma

Hi Gemma, I did this one after a run, really good fun. Question - the towel between the legs what is that for. It made easier to move - but I wondered if there was a specific reason for the towel. Sharon
