Bio:

Lucy taught her first classes, when she was in her late teens, for college students whilst dancing as a hobby at the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden. However, she rejected a career in fitness, in favour of an artistic career and went on to become an animator and graphic designer for TV.  It was only later in life that she finally came back to dance and fitness, qualified as a teacher and then as a Personal Trainer. She now runs her own successful business the Body Fitness Company and has joined forces with ThinQ Fitness to become their Fitness Director and one of their fitness presenters.

Lucy is passionate about dance and fitness and believes strongly that it should be accessible to everyone.

Join Lucy in the blog to find out a bit about her eating habits as a busy working mum.

Lucy’s Tips:

  • Don’t spend hours in the gym working half-heartedly; work for shorter periods but at a higher intensity.
  • Every morning do 25 press-ups, 50 curls, 50 reverse curls and 60 oblique twists, whatever else happens that day, you will know you have done your abs!!!
  • Avoid all white flour foods.

Description

This is Video 1: Belief in Lucy’s series aimed at our High BMI clients. It follows on from Introduction to High BMI. In this video Lucy discusses how Belief is an important factor in achieving ones goals but that this is a small, quiet, sustainable feeling, not affected by our different "states" of emotions.

All the videos in this series focus on a different tool which is useful in the toolbox of learning about what is generally considered relevant around fitness/coaching/nutrition. This series aims to demystify some of the structures used and allows participants a chance to start with a very basic no nonsense system of non perfect nutrition in a bid to get the ball rolling generally in the right direction. Lucy works with many High BMI clients and wants to bridge the gap between the commercial perfect world of diets and her own experience of helping people with a much more basic hands on approach.

All these videos have accompanying articles in the Lifestyle section of the site which contain more information.

  1. High BMI Belief Lifestyle Article
  2. High BMI Graded Learning Lifestyle Article
  3. High BMI The Secret Lifestyle Article
  4. High BMI The Hunger Mechanism Lifestyle Article

Hi Debbie, the get fit videos are not really designed for the larger person and this makes getting fit so hard if the class is not pitched correctly. I do so hope this enables you to continue your journey safely. Lucy

I'm so happy to have found a site that can help me in my new lifestyle change. I have already joined a weight loss site and they encourage regular daily excercise as an aid in my weight loss. It's taken some time but I got here eventually and I must say that I am very impressed so far. I used to love excercise to music at school but once I left I also left all of that behind. I have bought several get fit videos but none of them are aimed at people with a high BMI and as a result they sit on the shelf unused. So I am greatly encouraged by what I have found here.

Thanks Pierre and Caroline, yes Belief has to be differentiated from Hope. In the beginning, one has to learn how to Believe. LC

Well you are definately generating the idea of hope and yes I see there has to be an amount of belief otherwise its not going to happen but what I've learned here is that pushing on when it gets hard and hanging on to that much needed belief has to be in place and then its gathering those tools and having quite a few elements in place.
