Bio:

We are extremely grateful that Mel is here to give us such great classes as only one year ago Mel was in a near fatal motorcycle accident . It is a rather sober thought but, she was told by her Doctors, that no one had ever survived from the injuries she incurred. Her fitness meant she recovered in three months which we all agree is an incredible and inspiring testimony to the saying “fitness for life”.

Mel is a fighter and she works hard at what she loves doing in and around London based clubs and leisure centres. “I have always had a belief and a strong passion for exercise. I believe that if you are physically strong then it can help your mental state and give you mental ammunition to deal with life.”

Mel used to live in Gambia where she owned her own gym which was very successful. She came back to London several years ago to peruse a freelance career and is a popular and sought after teacher.

“The beauty of being able to help and see others transform their bodies as well as their lives through exercise is what really motivates me.”

Mel’s Tips:

A pint of cold water can increase metabolism for half and hour. The process of your body warming the water makes you burn calories.
Your metabolic rate is highest in the morning. If you have breakfast your 4 x less likely to be overweight than someone who doesn’t eat breakfast.
Weight bearing exercises strengthens your bones which can help prevent osteoporosis.

Description

Mel delivers a good all round exercise workout video here using weights and a bench.

This is a weight workout which targets all the major muscle groups and works consistently through a range of exercises to encourage tone but also muscle mass should the weights be increased slightly. This is a great class for burning calories and working upper and lower body and improving overall fitness. Newcomers to this online video workout please use lighter weights and do less reps and sets than Mel.

Equipment

Please go to the shop to buy equipment, for this class you will need hand weights (2kg - 4kg options), a step, and a mat. This equipment will be useful across such a large range of classes it is well worth investing in.

Thanx for your encouragement, Mel, I AM seeing results, tis hard work but like you say, 'It's Worth It!' Could you tell me please, Mel, what is the weight of your bar before you add your weights? Only my bar weighs quite a bit and I am wondering if I might be lifting too much weight, though I have been lifting it anywayz! Thanx.

Ow! Didn't even need to use weights, the bar was enough. Very fast paced, detailed instructions for posture and breathing (all the things you forget when in pain). Also Mel's comentary is very motiviating, it makes you want to do more with her promise of 'nearly there' . Will keep doing it and build up to some weights.
