Hurrah, I am off ski-ing in a few weeks time and each year I do prepare well in advance exercise wise. I am quite healthy but still could use some advice about what would be good to eat pre skiing as I find it hard to get the balance between having enough energy and not being over full or too empty. Hope you can help. C

Hi C, yes with a very active sport like ski-ing you need your food intake to be high enough to replace the energy output, yet as you point out not too bulky, other wise the soporific effect which occurs during digestion will have you will be asleep for the afternoon. Breakfast try porridge made with fullfat milk and add some fresh stewed fruit to this for sweetness and if possible a couple of boiled eggs, toast is optional dependant on appetitite. Also dring a glass of orange juice. Mid morning drink juice and water 50/50 and if getting pekish nuts and a satsuma. Lunch needs to be along the lines of brown rice with chicken and vegetables and lots of water for rehydration. Afternoon, again if peckish, one could try having two large slices of malt loaf and a banana and then for evening meal a fish or meat dish with lots of vegetables. Hope this helps. LC FD
