How to Win friends and Influence People

I was wondering about this the other day.......what things really work in the power of successful human communication?  I would have to say that for me it would have to be the humble smile. I used to teach a class in a club in Ealing which whilst was well attended had no real charisma or energy. Now each club is different, some have a natural ease about them, others a competitiveness, others a sense of camaraderie, so this class was unusual in that there was just a see a stony faces each week. Was it me? I wondered. One day instead of using the head mic (the hall had bad acoustics so it a necessary usually) I just spoke up a bit more loudly and instead of loud music I softened it and instead of trying to whip them up into a frenzy I just smiled at them every so often a big reassuring smile. Do you know it worked? Everyone started smiling back and then smiling at each other. I think the issue was the big hall we were in was drowing out the people in it. So, next time you have a difficult situation, look at the suronding s and see if you can balance out the possible insecurities created by the enviroment with a reassuring, heart felt csmile.

Also, right in with what things have worked for you please.

Smiling is such a good way to judge a person. My mum was an excellent judge of character and always had loads of friends around her right up until she died a few years ago. I remember the house always full of friends, real friends too. her secret, judge the smile, an open smile showing most of the top row of teeth with a twinkle in wide open eyes, was definitely what she used as a benchmark.

If I remember rightly babies smile sweetly when they are filling their nappies......I've digressed I fear. LC

A smile wins me over every time. Thats why children are so lovely, they smile so easily.
