One year on with the governments Change4Life program and over 1 million mums are claiming to have made a difference to their children’s diet and activity.
ThinQ Fitness has been helping Mums and Dads get their kids up and about doing their 60 active minutes a day, and we are now have a series of videos, in support of the Change4Life movement, that Mums and Dads can use to help them keep up with the kids.
We all want to feel healthy and trim, but no-one wants to deprive themselves of all the things they love drinking, eating and doing. In fact, cutting out the things we love often means we don't keep up the changes we make for very long - so any good work we do is easily undone later on. One of the best ways to be healthy is to make some swaps and build them into your life for the long term. The more you do, the better you'll feel - and you won't have to say 'no' to everything.
So this is all about a combination of fitness and diet, take a moment to let Lucy explain why exercise and nutrition go hand in hand.

By the time we reach middle age, the majority of us could do with losing at least a bit of weight. Being overweight isn’t just about the way we look. It can lead to more aches and pains, problems sleeping and people report a loss of energy and confidence. It also increases our chances of getting heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Middle age comes to everyone – ‘middle aged spread’ doesn’t have to.

The rise in obesity is one of the greatest health challenges facing our society. Already 30% of children and 61% of adults are overweight or obese. If the trend is allowed to continue, by 2050 nine out of ten adults could be overweight or obese.
Obesity is not a cosmetic issue. Becoming overweight or obese increases an individual’s likelihood of developing cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease, leading to a reduced quality of life and, in some cases, a life cut short. The annual cost to society of obesity related illnesses could reach £50 billion by 2050.
Childhood obesity is particularly worrying, since there is a recognised ‘conveyor-belt effect’ whereby weight gained in childhood continues into adulthood.
Foresight called for a society wide response to the rise in obesity, creating an environment that better supports people in developing and sustaining healthy easting and activity habits.
