Life as a journalist has its ups and downs – some weeks, you’re assigned stories about dog poo on pavements and school Ofsted reports and other weeks you get lucky and are paid for having a lie down.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing to research an article on complementary therapies. So far, I’ve tried aromatherapy, EFT and Theta therapy which is relatively new and involves getting rid of negative beliefs.
After my relaxing sessions I try not to jump straight back into normal life so tend to take the opportunity to continue the experience at home by exploring the gentler side of ThinQ Fitness.
Having browsed through the Breathe workouts I tried a little Tai Chi but have to confess to finding the moves a little difficult and was in awe of Ross Lardner who makes it all look effortless. Back on more familiar territory, I’ve also taken Anna Lovelock’s one hour Pilates class and used Tracy Lee Jackson’s ten minute meditation.
While taking some time out to think about wellbeing, I’ve also been browsing the lifestyle section of ThinQ Fitness. I’m known for my list writing obsession so couldn’t resist the article by Jan Gould. Her Spring Clean your Life article gives really sound advice on time management using a matrix. Note to self: spend less time on unimportant and non-urgent things like browsing the web for craft projects and music downloads when I have a deadline looming!
I’ve also drawn up my personal wheel of life as explained in Nicola’s Life Planning article. At the moment my wheel would result in a very bumpy ride and shows that I need to spend more time on fun activities.
So, this calls for more workouts and less housework, I reckon. I’ve just reminded the children of how to use the washing machine and they’re quite taken with the idea of doing their own laundry. What could possibly go wrong? My brilliant delegation means more time to concentrate on learning how to use my new Reebok step. I’ll report back on the ups and downs next week.
