I’ve been masquerading as a teenager this week and enjoying Dee Thresher’s workouts.
Along with my teenage daughter, I’ve tried all three during the school holidays and have continued with them now that I’m home alone again. We started with the Teen High BMI class which is great fun and the first choreography I’ve been able to follow all the way through. The music is Michael Jackson’s Beat It and that attracted my eight year old daughter, followed by her brother who liked the punching moves.
For a girls’ night in, we tried the Pilates video and I was pleased to see the penny drop as my daughter realised that there was more to it than meets the eye. I’m not a beginner at Pilates and expected quite an easy class but this was certainly challenging enough for me. This will go on my favourites list as another short workout that I can easily fit into the day.
Finally, we dug out our old tights and some water bottles to complete the toning workout. I’m still feeling smug that I could keep going on the abdominal exercises while she was struggling. All my efforts must be paying off.
I’ve been focussing on toning classes for the last few days as I’ve accidentally found another way to ensure I get enough aerobic exercise - I put petrol in my car.
This is apparently not a good thing when you drive a diesel! So, while the car is in the garage for a detox, I’ve been burning off some calories with a lot of extra walking. And, I’ve had a detox of my own after running out of real coffee and tea. Unable to drive to the supermarket, I have been forced into drinking decaff.
The car is coming home tomorrow but I’ll be trying to keep up my new healthier regime. Fortunately, the bill isn’t as bad as I first expected thanks to my local garage. Still, I was relieved that I had cancelled our expensive family leisure club membership so there was some cash in the bank to cover it.
